Every year, our real estate board organizes a meeting with local Town planners to provide REALTORS® with an update on local developments and plans. It’s always remarkable to see it all in one overview and to realize how the area is changing and growing.
Do you ever wonder why there seems to be more traffic around town or why it’s hard to get into a restaurant any night of the week now in Collingwood? It’s growth.
In Collingwood, over 450 new homes were added to the community last year and there are currently plans at various stages for many more. We’re seeing new apartments such as Monaco downtown, the Simcoe County Housing Corporation buildings at High and First and, a proposed 4 storey apartment building at Hurontario and Lockhart Rd. There are plans for new townhomes at Blue Fairway, the Collingwood Shipyards and the Riverside development on Peel Street. All of the new subdivision coming along such as the 400+ unit Charleston plan at Poplar and High, the Indigo development by Eden Oak (376 units), Red Maple (currently stalled) include both townhomes and single family homes. In addition, there are new commercial and industrial developments all adding up to growth.
The chart above shows the accelerated growth over the past three years. It seems the secret is out about what a great community we have.
