First, Collingwood and the Town of Blue Mountain are two different regions. In the latter, there are complex and ever-changing rules surrounding short term accommodation but today, we are talking specifically about the rules in Collingwood only.
Airbnb is not a “use” but rather the name of a company and service. What people mean when they say Airbnb use is really, the right to rent properties out on a short-term basis which is defined as being 30 days or less.
The Collingwood bylaws state that short term accommodations are NOT permitted in any residential area unless they are zoned to permit a hotel/motel use. A Bed and Breakfast IS however permitted under certain circumstances as shown below.So, if someone owns a house they live in and, is renting rooms on a short-term basis of under 30 days through a company such as Airbnb, the use would be permitted if the above provisions are met.
