What Buyers Should Know
I had to laugh when one of my clients once called me the “anti-agent.” They called me that because they said I talked them OUT of more houses than INTO them. I guess that’s true but also the hallmark of any agent who cares. When I bump into one of my clients downtown or at the grocery store, I want them to be glad to see me because they had a great real estate experience and, that means keeping an eye on things like resale value, potential pitfalls and potential gains. It also means being brutally honest 100% of the time. Every house has a buyer that has the right fit – I look for that fit under every stone and in every nook and cranny until we hit that Eureka moment when you know you’ve found home.
What Sellers Should Know
I’ll never “buy” a listing by giving an inflated price nor will I ever under-price a property for a quick sale. As a Market Value Appraiser, I take the pricing of homes very seriously and will always give an honest opinion of market value even if it’s not what my client wants to hear. With over 50% of the properties listed for sale never selling, proper pricing is essential. Once that’s done, I love the marketing process of bringing properties to the marketplace using the most innovative methods I can think of. Given that almost all of my listings have sold each and every year for the last two decades+, I know it’s working. And then comes the negotiations. My philosophy is to always seek the win-win point where everyone is happy and I’ll do whatever is possible to bring that about.
Areas Of Expertise
Being part of a small urban community means knowing every aspect of it. The South Georgian Bay region is both a full-time residential community and, Ontario’s premiere vacation destination. I work in all segments of the market including residential and recreational properties, condominiums, investment properties and, handle both the sale and leasing of commercial properties. I particularly love working with first-time buyers, retirees and most of all, with people who are relocating to this beautiful area. I also enjoy the challenges of dealing with the special circumstances of estate sales and, with unique or heritage properties. Most of all, I love watching families evolve over the years from their first homes to the next and the next. I’m often dealing with 2nd generation family members now and it is tremendously satisfying and exciting!
My “Other Life”
My family is my inspiration and centre of my life. My husband John and I love watching our “big kids” and our grandson Jack, grow and change. Their collective support is what lets me do what I do. I also firmly believe we should all give something back of ourselves to the community and have been an active volunteer for over forty years. In this millennium, I have chaired the local United Way campaign, have served as a director with our local Georgian Triangle Real Estate Board, and was the original chair of Collingwood’s “Vision 2020″ committee. Among other things, I also served as chairperson of the Georgian Triangle Economic Development Corporation, was a member of the Economic Development Advisory Committee and wrote a controversial “Straight Talk” column for the local newspaper. I chaired a local ratepayers association and, am a member of our real estate board’s Professional Standards Committee. All of these involvements strengthen my community network and allow me to keep my finger on the pulse of our community. Aside from all that my passion is travel with a particular affinity for Cuba where I travel often.

Since 1993, Chris and Marg have shared many things: an office, a history, volunteer work, real estate, stories, secrets, ups and downs, a close friendship and a wacky sense of humour.
Long before becoming the devoted Mum and Grammy she is today, Chris grew up helping her REALTOR® Dad in the 1960’s (!) and has personally sold everything from homes and condos to makeup to pumps to air conditioners to bras shaped like the Golden Gate Bridge. She also brings a background as a mortgage broker, lender and an Assistant Manager at a financial institution which all add up to a perfect fit for today’s clients.
Chris’ role is so varied it’s nearly impossible to describe. She is Marg’s right arm and left hand who makes sure every client is looked after from beginning to end. She jumps in to help with Buyers and Sellers and is highly adept at showing properties, finding answers, negotiating, investigating, writing, researching and proposing resolutions. She loves celebrating the successes of our clients and still gets excited when we get word that a deal has closed and the keys can be delivered.
