Mike’s family purchased a condo in the Blue Mountain area about 18 months ago and since then, they have really taken advantage of everything the lifestyle offers.  I asked Mike if he’d write a blog post describing what it’s like for him and here is what he had to say.  Thank-you Mike!

Hello, my name is Mike. I am ten years old and I’m going to tell you what it’s like owning a condo at Blue Mountain. I have a dog named Buddy who loves it there and so does my family. We all think it’s wonderland and beyond! My favourite things to do there is to go skiing in the winter and downhill biking in the summer. To get to the downhill and ski runs, all we have to do is ski or bike down a small hill and we are right there. My mom skis with my dad and I but she’s afraid to go biking with us.

Some of the other activities we can do at Blue are hiking, swimming, fishing, mini golf, zip lining, bag jumping, roller coaster rides and much more. In the summer every Monday and Thursday night in the Blue Mountain Village there is a movie night outside under the stars from 8:30-10:30. The restaurants there are amazing! My favourites are Cooper Blues that serves seafood and Rusty’s that servers BBQ and amazing smoked meats. The wildlife population at Blue Mountain is large for example we have seen deer, turkeys, raccoons and a groundhog when riding up the gondola.

In the fall we go to the Thornbury dam to watch the salmon run. After that, we usually go to Meaford to get amazing apples and homemade pies at Goldsmith’s Orchards. My favourite place to get pies [mostly apple] is at Greta’s pies and jam which is just outside Collingwood. The best place to go fishing in my opinion is at the Beaver River in Thornbury.  In the winter, we snowshoe on the hiking trails, skate on the outdoor Woodlot rink at the top of Blue and enjoy maple syrup on snow in the village.

This winter, I can’t wait to go snowshoeing at the Scenic Caves. In the summer at the Scenic Caves you can go on the Eco Adventure that includes a tree top walk where you walk on boards up to 50 feet in the air! After that, you go on a 100-meter zip line, then you walk in the caves and the guides tell you about the history of the Native Indians that lived there. They also explain how the suspension bridge was built when you walk on it at the beginning of the tour. Then last but not least, we went on a 1000-meter zip line to top off the day. Fun fact about the Scenic Caves, there is a half mile zip line that only that is the longest in Ontario.

Thank you for reading my mini story, and I hoped you enjoyed it!
